Ty Tosdal has substantial experience in energy law and civil litigation. As part of Tosdal Law Firm’s litigation group, Ty has represented a range of different clients in lawsuits against utilities, insurers and other companies related to energy matters and business disputes. He has played a critical role in jury trials and other cases from start to finish, including appeals. Licensed to practice in both state and federal court in Southern California, Ty works closely with his clients to execute strategies that are custom-tailored to their specific legal needs.
Ty also represents clients before energy regulators, primarily the California Public Utilities Commission, in order to remove regulatory barriers and secure approvals. With a focus on renewable energy, energy storage, and Greenhouse Gas and other emissions, he has successfully led regulatory initiatives on behalf of Community Choice Aggregation (“CCA”) programs, renewable energy companies environmental organizations and other clients throughout Southern California.
Graduating from law school at the University of Oregon, Ty served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation, earned a Master’s in Public Policy from UCLA, and graduated with honors from UC Berkeley. He maintains memberships with the California Community Choice Association, and Conference of California Public Utility Council.
